Our youngest (9 years old) has always loved having an advent calendar of some sort each year to go through. I usually make our own papers with activities included on them for him to complete each day.
This year, I thought that it would be fun to actually make the Advent calendar ourselves. So, that's what we did!
We headed out to the Dollar Tree and checked out everything that they have for Christmas. Now, they were not fully stocked yet, obviously it isn't even November yet. They did still have quite a bit and so we looked through all that we could find and came up with the Advent Tree.
We didn't even get all of our items from the Christmas section of the Dollar Tree. Some of the items came from the office supplies department. That's one tip that I'd like to share with you: Just because you are looking for Christmas items, doesn't mean you can't find things in order departments that will work for your project.
Don't be afraid to think outside-of-the-box!
Check out this video that we made to show you what we did!
Here are the links to the items that we used in the video:
Foam Board

Green Poster Board

Index Cards

Christmas Stickers
(these are not the exact ones that I used, but they're close)

Stickers

We hope you love it!
Email us pictures of your Advent Tree when you've made it! We'll show them on our Facebook page and site!
