I hope you and your family have had a great time this holiday season. I know we have enjoyed some downtime this season. First off, we all got the stomach bug that put us out for about a week. That was supposed to be our last week of school before a 2 week scheduled break, but health is more important.

So we ended up having about a 2 1/2 week break from school. And you know what? It's okay. I don't know about you, but I always feel guilty when I'm not always doing something. I am learning to deal with that guilt. I have learned that it is okay - actually necessary - to have a break from things.

We all have needed this break. The boys have been able to just do what they want to do, like play video games and watch tv. Soon enough, we will be back at the books and they will have less time for those things.

We are about to head back to school on Monday. Our oldest will be taking all high school courses (even though "officially" he's in 8th grade) and our youngest will doing some 3rd and 4th grade material. We will be back on schedule and routine starting then.

But, for this weekend, I'm going to relax and enjoy my family (and my downtime). We will be celebrating Christmas with my side of the family, so that will be fun!

Dear homeschool mom, take a break. It's okay. You're allowed!
