We were happy to be able to review Channie’s Visual Handwriting & Math Workbooks. Our 3rd grader was excited to be able to use their Easy Peasy Cursive book. Even though I have taught him how to write in cursive, this was a great help!
I'm sure it is with most children, but spacing and sizing have always been huge issues for my boys. They can make the shape of the letters, but they can't seem to make them the correct size or leave the accurate space between letters and words. I taught them that there are giraffe letters (those letters that touch the top line), chicken letters (letters that stay within the middle and bottom lines), and monkey letters (the letters that go below the bottom line). This really helps them, but on regular lined paper, it's hard to tell where the "middle line" is. Look at how the Easy Peasy Cursive Workbook helps with that.
Check out the page above. The spacing is built into the paper. Very cool! Do you see that green bar? That is what helps keep the sizing correct. It really helps keep our visual 3rd grader in check with his letters. Yes! Finally something that helps with sizing! There is regular lined paper out there, but this definitely tops that!
As you can tell, he's a lefty. I am not. This has been tricky while having him use various workbooks and binders because they are made for the right-handed child. I love that Channie's binds their workbook at the top so it doesn't interfere with his arm as he writes. That was so refreshing. It's usually very frustrating for him to figure out how to use a book let alone complete the work. I know that it's a little thing, but extremely helpful for our wonderful lefty.
This isn't the only book that Channie's produces. They make some other great handwriting products. They also have a math workbook as well. They also have a One Page a Day: Double Digit Math Problem Workbook.
Easy Peasy Cursive from Channie’s Visual Handwriting & Math Workbooks has helped our 3rd grader not only work on his cursive, but to effectively produce letters that are the correct size and with the correct spacing between letters and words. With these books being either 50 or 80 pages in length, these books are a great value at less than $15.00 a piece. I love that
