Five Minute Fridays: Truth
Updated: 4 days ago
Well, here we are again. It's Friday! I like Fridays because my husband gets off early. So we are here to do a little thing called "Five Minute Fridays" where we write about a given word for 5 minutes. There are others that do this as well and I know you'll love to read what they wrote as well, so I'll put the link below so you can go there - after you've read mine, of course.
Ok, so here it goes.
Truth. What is truth? Truth is relative - or so they say. I don't believe that's true, though. Truth is not relative. People say, "Well, your truth is your truth, and my truth is mine." That just doesn't seem right, does it? How can everyone have their own truth. If that's true, then nothing is truth.
What truth is based on is the Word of God. His truth is what we should be basing our lives on.
I think people get truth and perspective confused. We all have different perspectives in life because we all see life differently depending on what our experiences have been.
For example, I have stuttered all my life. I struggled in school with my stuttering because kids would make fun of me. As I got older and I was working at a furniture store, customers on the phone would ask to talk to someone who knew what they were talking about because I stuttered on the phone. Guess what? Each year that I taught in the public school, I always had a student who stuttered. I was able to help them understand what it was like, as well as help their parents understand.
So, could other people's truth be that all people who stutter just don't know what they are talking about or are confused with what words to say. Would that be true? No. Could my truth be that all people are mean? No. Those are the perspectives that we have, not truth.
Truth, like I said earlier, is God's Word. God's Word is truth. If we are questioning whether something that we hear is truth or not, go back to God's Word, the Bible, and check it out. You'll never go wrong!
