Well here we are again doing another five minute Friday writing session and the word today is "Mom". This time I'd better set my timer. Hold on a sec...Ok and go.

My mom. What can I say? She's the greatest! She cheers me on when I'm trying something new. She comforts me when something went wrong. She supports me in my endeavors, especially with my kids. It's wonderful to be able to chat with her about struggles I'm having with raising kids (after all she raised 4!). We have the same tastes and likes and we just genuinely like to spend time with each other.

Being a mom - well this is another story. No, not really. I really do love being a mom - especially a homeschool mom. I really feel that homeschooling has given my children and I an opportunity to get to know each other and enjoy each other's company. Do we always get along? Nope - not a chance. Do I envy the yellow school bus going by? Sometimes. But, I wouldn't change my job as a mom for anything!

My oldest (12) was asking me the other day what the big deal was about getting married and having kids. You know - I couldn't really explain it to him. You really don't understand it until you have it. Then you wonder how you ever lived without being a mom. I tell my kids that I did have a life before them, but it's really hard to remember THAT life.

Mom - I love you and I appreciate everything that you have done for us. You are an awesome Grandma, too!

---and time is up!

You now what, guys? You know my mom. She's Grandma Edie of Grandma's Reading Corner. She loves kids and loves to read books to them, so when we started this blog together, we made a special place to do what she loves - reading books to kids, your kids, on video! Go on and check out her very own tab on the top! There are tons of books on there that she has read so far - and we're adding more all the time.

Better yet! Go and subscribe to our YouTube Channel so you get notifications when we add new videos.
