Household Chores That Take Less Than 10 Minutes Each (And Can Be Done While Homeschooling)

I have to admit that I really don’t like cleaning. I mean, I would be a terrible maid! That definitely isn’t my “calling” in life. Now don’t get me wrong, I like to have my house clean. I just don’t like to be the one who has to clean it. There are so many other things that I can think of doing that doesn’t include cleaning.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a maid (even though I don’t think I would like to have one even if I could afford it), so I have to come up with a way to get things done without driving myself crazy.

Lately, I’ve been trying to give my boys a little more space while they are doing their school. We have been schooling for a few weeks now and they are now comfortable with their new work and what’s required of them. I need to be available for them and we still do somethings together, so I can’t get started with a huge cleaning project during the midst of our school time.

That’s when I came up with a list of household chores that take less than 10 minutes (for the most part). Here’s what I’ve come up with:

Empty or fill dishwasher

Clean the outside of the fridge, stove, or dishwasher

Clean the inside of the freezer or refrigerator

Scrub the sink

Wipe the counters

Sweep or mop the floor

Organize a cabinet

Empty the garbage

Make a bed

Vacuum the floor

Dust the room

Put things where they belong

Scrub the sink, shower, or toilet

Wipe the counter

Empty the garbage

Sweep or mop the floor

Organize medicine cabinet

Laundry Room:

Put a load of laundry in washer or dryer

Fold or put away a load of laundry

Sweep or mop floor

Clean off the top of the washer or dryer

Iron a shirt or pair of pants

Living Room:

Pick up things that don’t belong

Dust the room

Vacuum the floor

Straighten and put things where they belong

Fluff pillows

Fill food or water bowl

Clean out litter box/cage

Take out for a bathroom break

This is just a small list of household chores that could be done in less than 10 minutes. I’m a big fan of multi-tasking (when I can handle it). It feels good to be giving my kids some growing room in independent learning as well as getting a few things done around the house. What are some items that you would add to the list?

Here is a printout of the list above to help you on your way to a cleaner house!
